Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 30, 2026

This policy explains what cookies are, which cookies LinkShort uses, and how you can manage them.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners.

Cookies are stored in your browser and sent back to the website on subsequent visits. They are not programs and cannot carry viruses or access your files.

There are several types of cookies:

  • Session cookies — temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser
  • Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them
  • First-party cookies — set by the website you are visiting
  • Third-party cookies — set by external services embedded in a website

2. Cookies We Use

We keep our cookie usage to the absolute minimum required to operate the Service. We only use first-party, strictly necessary cookies:

NamePurposeDuration
auth_tokenAuthentication — keeps you signed inSession
themeRemembers your light / dark mode preference1 year
langRemembers your language preference1 year

All cookies we set are first-party (from tooldit.com) and are strictly necessary for the Service to function correctly. They do not track your browsing activity across other websites.

3. Cookies We Don't Use

We are committed to your privacy. The following types of cookies are not used on LinkShort:

Advertising cookies

We do not serve ads and do not use any ad network cookies.

Third-party tracking cookies

No external trackers (e.g. Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel) are embedded.

Social media pixels

No social sharing pixels or retargeting scripts from any social network.

Analytics tracking cookies

We use server-side analytics only, which do not require cookies on your device.

4. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Deleting your authentication cookie will sign you out of the Service. Here is how to manage cookies in the most common browsers:

Google Chrome

  1. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner
  2. Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  3. Choose your preferred cookie setting or click "See all cookies and site data" to delete specific cookies

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the three-line menu (☰) in the top-right corner
  2. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security
  3. Under "Cookies and Site Data", click Manage Data to view and delete cookies

Apple Safari

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner
  2. Go to Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

Removing essential cookies (such as auth_token) will sign you out of the Service. Preference cookies (theme, language) can be safely deleted; your preferences will reset to defaults on your next visit.
